This weekend Angela is attending the LCANZ biannual conference, held in Brisbane.
There are many International speakers attending the conference, with a wealth of knowledge on the huge topic of breastfeeding. Some keynote speakers include:
Professor Uwe Ewald from Sweden, who has done a huge amount of research on breastfeeding and baby’s in Neonatal Intensive Care; Dr Jenny Thomas from the USA, who is speaking about why breastmilk is not just food. She talks about the other available knowledge which we can use to empower mothers who believe they cannot satisfy their baby: A baby at the breast is getting their immune system developed, activating their thymus, staying warm, feeling safe from predators, having normal sleep patterns and wiring their brain; and Nancy Mohrbacher from Chicago, who has written many breastfeeding books. She will be addressing the issue of Breast, Bottle and Childhood obesity and providing an overview of the research on the association between infant feeding during the first year and the risk of childhood obesity. She will also talk about the effects of feeding method on milk intake and feeding dynamics (breast versus bottle), how milk composition affects body function and appetite (human milk versus infant formula), and whether what’s in the bottle makes a difference.
Along with these keynote speakers, there are many fabulous Australian and New Zealand speakers.
We wish Angela a great time – soaking up all the latest research and knowledge on Breastfeeding, which she will be able share with you during her education classes here at Dr Morris | Sydney Mother & Baby.
Stay tuned for more details!
